Vendor deposits are commonly non-refundable. Knowing the terms, and how to protect yourself, matters if plans change.

Protect yourself

  • Pay deposits with a credit card where possible, for dispute rights
  • Track every deposit, balance and due date
  • Ask about postponement rather than cancellation terms
  • Consider wedding or event insurance for large budgets; read what it covers and excludes
